Richard C. Garcia - Fulda 1958-1060  17/02/10   20:31:02 Date
Message I was stationed in Fulda from 1958/1060 with the 501st Armored Medical Company as an ambulance driver. I have returned twice in 1998 and 2005. Both time I was able to spend some time with Marvin Rash, retired and was living there after his discharge. H e sadly pass away but his wife still lives there and I have communicate with her. I think that those two years that I spent there changed my life forever. I learned in the short time more then I could have learned from books. I am the only member of my family that has travel so far, seen so much and met so many wonderful people. Fifty years later with the help of a locater I was able to find more then 75 former members of my company and over the last four years we have had three reunions. I thank God that I have lived long enough to see them again. It breaks my heart everytime that one passaway. God Bless all of my friends and those that served in the 14th and her attached companies, 501st, 58th Engineers, 87th Army Band, 15th Ordance and those that I no longer remember.

Still looking for Carmine Materazzo, Wayne Mathis, Jerry Zyvonoski, Luis Torres, Jerry Hale, Paul Austin and more. Thanks for your help and this is one great memory site.

John Hampton, I Troop, HHT, 3/11th ACR, 1973-1978  16/02/10   04:38:45 Date
Message That street where the housefire occurred looks so familiar to me. I'm glad no one was seriously hurt. The iguana looks like he's happy to have survived. There's a Catholic kindergarten near there (not sure if it's still there) where my wife worked as a kindergarten teacher when she and I first met.
John Hampton; This is what can happen when you let two-year olds cook leftovers for breakfast. 16/2/10 16:17:28
=======================================
John the house fire was on Farberweg St. Click the above WWW to see a video of Farberweg St. BTY, the word on the Straße is the iguana started the fire because the owners cut him off after 3 flip-tops. TheDeitz 16/2/10 14:55 est

John Hampton reply; I was sort of thinking that the iguana did look kind of guilty, too. By the way, the kindergarten where my wife worked was Kindertagesstätte St. Bonifatius on Dreherstrasse just down the street a bit from Farberweg Strasse.

Lollo aka Thomas our hersfeld ambassador  14/02/10   14:07:47 Date
Message Hi Thomas!

The small village where the Bocaccio bar was located called "Unterhaun “. The Bornweg where you lived is at the village of "Rotensee “. Both belong to the community of " Hauneck “. You can search it via Google maps. Search for 36282 Hauneck Germany.

The Bocaccio bar, the Antek and the Sudpfanne does not exists anymore.

The Bratspiess is still open at downtown Bad Hersfeld.

The Lomo Restaurant is also still open.

Only the owners of Bratspiess and Lomo changed since your time here.

Best regards from Bad Hersfeld, Thomas

FYI: Thomas aka Lollo is a Hersfeld native, one of our unofficial U.S.A. Ambassadors. The Deitz 14 Fe. 2010

Message Does anyone remember these places? The Powerslide, the Antek, and Bocaccio's? Bratspies and Lomo's? Marianna's (Sudpfanne?) The Last Penny and the Hacienda in Kassel? What was the name of the town/suburb where Bocaccio's was? I rented a house there with some friends for a few months..Bornweg Eins.
